Samsung's Ballie Robot

Samsung unveils Ballie (ball-shaped rolling robot) at CES 2020 in Las Vegas on 6 January. The Ballie robot is developed to work as a private assistant for the home. The Ballie robot understands or supports users need and react to their necessity. You can make a conversation with it and request it to execute various acts, and it executes some automatically if you make a plan earlier. Generally, Ballie looks like a tennis ball.

Functions of Ballie


Samsung didn't reveal the price of this robot but it could be pretty useful anyway. The rolling robot holds artificial intelligence (AI) to execute a series of works that contain the management of a smart home, security, and physical health aspects. The device has a built-in camera so that it can capture a moment. Ballie works as a fitness assistant and it can also operate smart devices such as a vacuum machine, Smart T.V, etc.

HS Kim, President, and CEO of Consumer Electronics Division, Samsung, connect with Ballie at CES; the Ballie has voice recognition ability. Kim calls Ballie like a pet dog, managing it with gossip like "hi Ballie", "good boy" and "come here Ballie". Ballie goes along with him around the stage. The Samsung CEO said that "I love this guy. He even knows to give me a little space."

Samsung's promotional video clearly shows that Ballie can awake people in the morning by opening blinds of the house. Ballie rolls around you by tracking through a camera. Ballie supports the operating smart device for exercise. It can do works like turn on the TV for pets, clean up the mess by vacuum, capture image or video by an in-built camera, and can directly send to its owner.
