Demands To Ban Tik-Tok Raised Again In India And USA

TikTok's rating decreased steadily from 4.5★ to 2.6★ in the Google play store. TikTok Lite also decreased to 1.3★, which clearly means people surely want to ban TikTok. In India, there is an atmosphere of TikTok vs Youtube, surely people will engage with youtube more as it provides more information, education, and entertainment than TikTok.

In the US, the TikTok app has once again come under the scrutiny of parents, privacy groups, and the U.S. government.

India Against TikTok

In India, more than 10,000 tweets have been published to ban TikTok in less than 10 hours, which has been trending since Friday morning.

The whole world is forced to suffer the effect of this virus, now also known as the 'Chinese virus'. Emotional waves are rising in India against China, along with a demand from the Indian government to ban 'TikTok' has also begun to increase.

The USA Against TikTok

TikTok might be an application of choice between pre-teens and bored college students. But the famous app has (once again) come below the scrutiny of parents, privacy groups, and the U.S. government. A combination of 20 advocacy organizations on Thursday blamed TikTok for violating a contract with the Federal Trade Commission(FTC) to keep protected under-age users. The FTC last year penalized TikTok $5.7 million for illegally gathering the personal data of under-age users.

The press release reads For under-age accounts, TikTok gathers detailed information about how the under-age uses the app and uses artificial intelligence to decide what to show next, to keep child online as long as possible.

There has been a demand for a legal ban

In November 2019, Heena Darvesh filed a PIL against TikTok in the Mumbai High Court claiming that this app is leading to crimes and deaths. Remarkably, TikTok was banned by the Madras High Court last year, which was lifted afterward.

On March 12, Republican Senator Josh Howley in the US filed a bill in the Senate to ban all federal government devices from using and downloading the Chinese social media TikTok app as it could be a risk to the US government’s data safety. His video has been viewed by 1.3 million people and shared 140,000 times on Facebook.

Josh Golin said in a statement, executive director of CCFC- For years, TikTok has paid no attention to COPPA, thereby capturing perhaps millions of underage children in its marketing apparatus, and putting children at risk of sexual predation.
"Currently, even after being caught red-handed by the FTC, TikTok resumes flouting the law. We need the [FTC] to take action against TikTok again—this time with a fine and injunctive relief commensurate with the seriousness of TikTok's serial violations."

Demand raised in politics too

BJP’s Information Technology and Publicity Strategist in the UP government, has also urge ban on TikTok. Advocate Varsha Madhukar said the TikTok is on the government's radar because it is a threat to the country's security, our significant data is going to China, which has raised the danger of cybercrime.

Social activist Renu Mathur says that due to TikTok our children are accessing pornography and are getting affected in religious hatred and communal violence.

Even before this, TikTok has faced the temper of Indians as thousands of people have died in accidents due to the shooting of TikTok videos.
