A great ring-shaped structure formed from mammoth bones has been founded in Russia, with inspection revealed it may have given refuge for ancient humans living during the times of the ice age, about 20,000 years earlier.
Circular structures formed from mammoth bones are originated across eastern Europe. One of these Kostenki 11 (One of these circular structures) is above 40 feet in diameter. It is founded just outside the village of Kostenki about 450 km (280 miles) south of Moscow.
Inspection founded that the structure was developed from about 51 mammoth jaws and 64 skulls. Researchers also discover some bones of reindeer, wolf, red fox, horse, bear, and arctic fox. A large number of bones discovered at the Russian Plains site is from mammoths.
"The bones form a continuous circle that has no obvious entrance," researchers said.
Lower jaws, complete skulls and other bones from mammoths were perfectly organized into ring-shaped structures. About 70 of these structures exist in the west Russian Plains and Ukraine.
The bone circle with about 20 inches height is bounded by enormous pits that may have been utilized for food and fuel collection. Investigator took samples from the site and pits and discover the remains of burned wood and bone, plant remains and burnt seeds.
Kostenki 11 marks as the oldest of the rounded structure constructed by Ice Age ancient humans according to the new study by scientific journal Antiquity.
At the Kostenki site, investigators discovered charred wood with the bones, may have been burned for fuel. Investigators also discover evidence of plants at the site, They may have utilized plants to make medicines, poisons, string, and fabrics.
May these circular structure residences were not only constructed to survive extreme Ice Age situations but also a secure place where ancient people could form tools and technologies to help them eventually emerge as a force in the heroic new post-Ice Age world.
